A NEW APP USES PHONE FLASHLIGHT TO DETECT DIABETES… PRETTY ACCURATELY

There is a popular smartphone app called Azumio, that measures heart rate using the phones camera.  The same technology is being used to detect type 2 diabetes.  Even in the early stages, diabetes can cause vascular changes in the blood vessels.  Variations in blood volume that occur with every heartbeat, is captured by placing the flashlight from the phone on your fingertip and changes captured via an algorithm, can signal to further test for diabetes.  In the study of 54,296 individuals, the model used, correctly identified people suffering from diabetes in more than 72% of the cases.
